BALTIMORE (AP) — Cloud Computing ran down Classic Empire in the final strides Saturday to win the Preakness by a head.
The shot was one of five new horses in the Preakness that didn’t operate from the Kentucky Derby.
Classic Empire and Derby winner Always Dreaming dueled throughout most of the race before Vintage Empire put on his nose in front midway. It seemed as if Classic Empire goes on to triumph, but he was run by Cloud Computing down on the outside.
Ridden by Javier Castellano, Cloud Computing conducted 1 3/16 miles in 1:55.98 and paid $28.80 to triumph. It was the dark brown colt’s second career victory.
Senior Investment finished third. Lookin At Lee had been fourth.
